Who We Are....
Magia 2000 is a dream come true for Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi, from Italy. It represents the realization of their passion for fashion.

Mario and Gianni have always been loving dolls, even before they met in 1997. Doll collecting started for them some years ago, on a sunny day at the beach, after they had found a promo Barbie doll attached as a gift to an Italian girlie magazine. They first bought the magazine just for fun and out of curiosity, but soon this led them to realize how much they had been missing since they had “grown up” and abandoned the world of toys. This turned out in a renewed passion and the two guys immediately started buying Barbie again and collecting the most beautiful ones.
But keeping the dolls at their home, sitting there or plainly showing off in their boxes, left Mario and Gianni feeling like something big was missing. Why not try to adapt the dolls to their own taste? Why not invent new outfits, new styles, new faces and hair for them? This is how they started with their first humble and simple OOAK creations, which were taken to Italian trade fairs starting in the year 2000. Pretty soon, by attempting, practicing and experiencing, they were able to fine-tune their personal inner taste, supported by the fact that they live in Italy, one of most fashion-friendly places in the world. It has been a long way from then, always struggling to achieve something close to their idea of perfection, with lot of research for details, getting inspiration from every aspect of the customizing tips, specializing in all makeover techniques, which go from dress cutting to sewing and beading. During the last few years, they have been successfully taking part to many workshops all over the world, and their facial repainting technique has now become state-of-the-art.
From the year 2001 they have been taking part to many international events, up to the latest American Conventions in Denver, Detroit, Orlando, Dallas, Chicago and, of course, to the annual Paris Festival, where in 2004 they were awarded the Jury's prize for the 16" dolls makeover contest. They have donated some of their most precious creations, with honor and success, to many Charity events and Live Auctions and finally, in 2004, Magia 2000 received the BMAA Reader's Choice Award.

As for their professional path, in 2004, after a short collaboration with the Italian firm for which they had designed the
Brigitte Bardot Doll, they took the big jump into the real fashion business, both switching their everyday’s job into a long-time cherished dream, thus becoming women fashion designers.
About this major change, they state "Working today on a real woman’s collection is a dream come true and, for this, we must thank the experience we have gained with doll customizing. We had a lot of fun travelling and meeting friends and collectors all over the world, and it warms our heart to be recognized more as friends than as artists. Therefore, we strongly intend to keep on with doll makeovers, it's always funny and gives us the chance to create our own style, which is sometimes completely disconnected from real life, as free as a child should be: our inner child who comes back to life when you play with dolls"
The fun and the true passion for fashion and dolls has been bringing a lot to their lives, and they are always friendly and humble as the child within theirselves.
